Hixson is an unincorporated community and a neighborhood in the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. It is a northern suburb of Chattanooga; and is part of the Chattanooga, TN-GA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Hixson is surrounded by communities from several different cities and suburbs. It is not a rigidly defined location. However, the area is typically defined as: North of the Rivermont area (a Chattanooga neighborhood); east of the City of Red Bank and U.S. Highway 27; south of the unincorporated area of Middle Valley and Thrasher Pike; and borders the river on the east.〔(Tennessee Hometown Locator )〕 Within the Hixson community, there are also smaller communities. These include DuPont, Northgate, Big Ridge, and Valleybrook. ==Government== Hixson is represented on the City of Chattanooga council with two district seats – District 2 currently held by Jerry Mitchell and District 3 currently held by Ken Smith.〔(City Council Map; dated . )〕〔()〕 Hixson is represented on the Hamilton County Commission in two districts as well: District 1, currently held by Fred Skillern; and District 3, held by Marty Haynes.〔(District Map; dated . )〕
